Paul continues to teach and encourage the young believers in the church. Evidently some
people were either confused or were deliberately misleading the church by saying that Christ had already returned. Apparently, there were people in the church who believed that Christ had already returned to earth or they were using it as an excuse not to work. There have been many times in church history where this false doctrine has captured the hearts of people who have sold all their possessions and sat waiting for the Lord’s return only to be disappointed. As Jesus taught His disciples after the resurrection, So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?” He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know.” Acts 1: 6-7 NLT.
