Luke presents Christ as the Son of Man. He is very explicit about the virgin birth in chapters 1 and 2. He also shows the genealogy of Jesus through Mary, a descendant of David through Solomon’s younger brother, Nathan (see chapter 4). We also see Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, who was governor of Jerusalem when the Jews returned from Babylonian captivity. Zedekiah was the last of Solomon’s descendants who sat on the throne (2 Chron. 36).
Luke was a physician who travelled with Paul and Silas for several years. He must have
interviewed Mary at some point to obtain the accounts in chapters 1 and 2. His emphasis was that God became man, that by being human, Jesus experienced our trials, hurts, and frustrations, yet He did not sin so He could be the perfect sacrifice to pay for our sins.
There are a great number of verses that could be chosen as key verses, but I chose these: “One day the Pharisees asked Jesus, ‘When will the Kingdom of God come’? Jesus replied, ‘The Kingdom of God can’t be detected by visible signs. You won’t be able to say, Here it is! or It’s over there! For the Kingdom of God is already among you’.” Luke 17:20-21 NLT.
