Proverbs 7

Solomon continued to dwell on sex in these verses.  But in this instance, he used his observation about a young man who was walking toward the house of a woman known to be loose with her body when her husband was out of town.

Solomon started, “Follow my advice, my son, always keep it in mind and stick to it.  Obey me and live!”  Instead of strange women, “Love wisdom like a sweetheart; make her a beloved member of your family.”

“Listen to me, young men, and not only listen, but obey; don’t let your desires get out of hand, don’t let yourself think about her.”  Solomon spoke as a man who had experienced all these desires, maybe he had given in to them.  Maybe he remembered the affair his father, David, had with his mother.  Maybe he remembered stories of regret from each of his parents.  Whatever the reason, God uses our regrets to give us a greater desire to experience His holiness.
