God inspired Solomon to give us more information regarding wisdom. Wisdom is not hard to find according to verses 1-10. Solomon asked, “Can’t you hear the voice of wisdom? She is standing at the city gates. . .” This is referring to the practice in Israel that a group of older men known for their wisdom would sit at the city gates to help anyone who was needing advice.
Solomon continued, “and at every fork in the road, and at the door of every house.” In other words, Don’t be afraid to ask your older neighbors for advice, and don’t ask just one, but get several recommendations before you commit to something.
In verses 11-13, wisdom tells us why her value is so great: “Wisdom and good judgment live together, for wisdom knows where to discover knowledge and understanding. If anyone respects and fears God, he will hate evil.” In other words, don’t ask counsel from an atheist, agnostic, or anyone who does not follow God’s instructions.
From verses 24-36, Wisdom lets us know that she comes directly from God. “The Lord formed me in the beginning before He created anything else. From ages past, I AM. I existed before the earth began.” Yes, wisdom comes from YAHWEH (God Himself)! Don’t be fooled by people with puffed up egos.
