This psalm written by David would be a beautiful benediction at the end of a church service. In many churches, the pastor will give a benediction at the end to send the congregation out with a positive thought.
Look at this list of blessings he wishes for the people:
1. In times of trouble, may the Lord answer your cry.
2. May God keep you safe from all harm.
3. May He send you help from heaven and strengthen you.
4. May He remember all your gifts and look favorably on them.
5. May He grant your heart’s desires and make all your plans succeed.
6. May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory and praise God.
What would happen if all believers prayed for those blessings for their fellow believers? Can we imagine the blessings God would pour out on us? What would happen when the world saw God bless His people in those ways? Do we think it might bring about a great awakening and would it bring about revival in the church?
