Who are God's Chosen People - Part 3

In part 2, we saw that the Jews of today do not follow the tradition shown throughout the Bible of recording their lineage through the male line but rather through the female line. If their mother was a Jew, they are Jews. But there are two other signs that call their genealogical lineage into question.

First, none of today's Jews identify with the tribal lineage. They do not claim to be descendants of Judah, Benjamin, Reuben, Levi, etc. This has always been an important part of their identification. Paul identified himself as a descendant of the tribe of Benjamin. Why don't today's Jews identify themselves by their tribal relationship?

Second, instead of the tribal relationship, today's Jews identify themselves by where they mainly lived. The three prominent groups of Jews today are the Ashkenazim who originated in northern and eastern Europe, the Sephardim who lived in Spain, Portugal, and North Africa, and the Mizrahim who lived in the Middle East area.

Now there is no question that these Jews truly believe they are the legitimate descendants of Abraham, but are they truly his physical heirs? Is it possible these people are descendants of gentiles who converted to Judaism at some point in time, maybe even before the destruction of Jerusalem, and they have identified themselves as Jewish because of religious heritage rather than physical heritage? I doubt there is any way to solve this dilemma. However, the scriptures give us a very clear answer as to who the true descendants of Abraham are today (see Part - 4).
